Application Developer / Reverse Engineer – Level III

Position Overview
The selected candidate will serve as an Application Developer and Reverse Engineer supporting the development of advanced security and analysis tools within a mission-focused environment. This role involves designing and delivering software solutions that enable rapid adaptation to emerging operational needs.
The candidate will work closely with analysts, data scientists, and other engineers to develop capabilities that directly support mission execution. This position requires the ability to operate independently, pursue technical research opportunities, and translate evolving requirements into deployable solutions on accelerated timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Software Development & Automation
- Develop Python-based applications to automate analysis and operational workflows
- Build and maintain production-grade software systems supporting mission requirements
- Manage data flow and formatting to ensure integration with downstream systems
Reverse Engineering & Analysis
- Perform reverse engineering of network traffic and web applications
- Analyze communication protocols and application behavior to support capability development
- Utilize industry-standard tools to monitor and inspect network communications
Requirements & Collaboration
- Work directly with stakeholders to gather requirements and validate system functionality
- Collaborate with software development teams to integrate new technologies and shared components
- Contribute to agile development efforts in a fast-paced environment
Deployment & Operations
- Support containerization and deployment of applications using modern platforms
- Assist in the development and maintenance of automated build and deployment pipelines
- Ensure reliability and performance of deployed systems
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, or:
- Master’s degree with at least 10 years of experience, or
- 4 additional years of software engineering experience in lieu of a degree
- Strong proficiency in Python with experience developing production-grade applications
- Familiarity with web technologies and protocols, including HTTP, HTML, and JavaScript
- Experience using tools such as Burp Suite, browser developer tools, or Wireshark for network analysis
- Experience with containerization and deployment technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, Git-based platforms)
- Experience using collaboration and issue-tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience prototyping or developing web applications (e.g., JavaScript-based frontends)
- Experience analyzing cybersecurity-related datasets (e.g., network traffic, system logs)
- Familiarity with signals intelligence (SIGINT) collection and analysis systems
- Experience supporting operational CNO capabilities and environments
- Experience developing or reverse engineering mobile applications and communication protocols
- Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Git-based automation workflows)
