Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Cloud Security Architect / Systems Engineer to support a mission-focused customer in Chantilly, VA. This role will support a portfolio of products designed to protect sensitive, co-mingled data across complex technical environments and multiple network fabrics.
The selected candidate will be part of a group-level security and architecture team responsible for supporting the research, design, development, accreditation, and maintenance of complex systems that protect highly sensitive data. This team will provide technical guidance, architecture reviews, cost optimization support, cloud service evaluations, cybersecurity vulnerability coordination, and partner adoption support across secure mission environments.
Key Responsibilities

Support the research, design, development, accreditation, and maintenance of complex systems that protect highly sensitive data.

Provide technical expertise for systems and components operating across multiple network fabrics.

Review proposed technical solutions and architectures and provide findings, recommendations, and risk considerations.

Support technical forums, working groups, and review boards.

Track, analyze, and optimize cloud costs across mission systems and partner environments.

Develop cloud cost models for IC and DoW partners.

Evaluate Cloud Service Provider offerings, including AWS, Azure, and Oracle, for use with highly sensitive data.

Support hybrid cloud and on-premises architecture planning, implementation, and optimization.

Research technical solutions and provide whitepapers or written recommendations to address customer needs.

Provide expertise on encryption techniques, encryption products, and secure architecture options.

Serve as a focal point for cybersecurity vulnerabilities and coordinate technical response recommendations.

Maintain an in-depth understanding of customer tools, systems, and technical processes.

Assist external partners with adoption, integration, and use of customer tools and technical solutions.

Identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency, performance, security, scalability, and operational effectiveness.

Support architecture standardization, documentation, and technical governance activities.
Required Qualifications
Demonstrated experience with:

Designing, developing, or maintaining systems that handle extremely sensitive data

Designing, developing, or maintaining systems across multiple network fabrics

Cloud Service Provider offerings, specifically:

AWS
-
Azure
-
Oracle Cloud
-

Optimizing cloud-hosted systems for cost and performance efficiencies

Designing, developing, or maintaining systems used globally
-
Hybrid cloud architectures
-
Designing or maintaining on-premises architectures
-
Secure systems engineering, technical documentation, and architecture review support
Desired Qualifications
Demonstrated experience with one or more of the following:

Service of Common Concern programs

Designing and standardizing DevOps processes

Customer or Sponsor tool suites

Supporting IC and DoW programs
-
Configuration Management Database processes and procedures
-
Cloud cost modeling, FinOps, or cloud optimization initiatives

Encryption technologies, secure data handling, and data protection architectures

Cybersecurity vulnerability management or technical risk assessment

Supporting technical review boards, architecture boards, or governance forums

Writing technical whitepapers, architecture recommendations, or solution evaluations
