Attic Technician

Grand Rapids, Michigan
Job Summary:
The Attic Technician is responsible for the removal and installation of attic and crawlspace products in accordance with work orders. The Attic Technician completes the essential job functions in a safe and timely manner and is responsible for completing other duties as assigned by the Attic Supervisor.  

Classification:  Seasonal to Full-time/Hourly/Bonuses
Salary/ Wage Range:  $18 -$20/hr.
Work Location:  On the road.  Local travel.
Work Schedule:  Monday-Friday and Saturdays as needed. Possibility of overtime.
Reports To: Attic Supervisor


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Attic Technician: 
  • Removes and installs attic products such as, blown, rolled, foam, and foamboard insulation, vapor barriers, debris, house-wrap, measuring sticks, can light covers, and disinfectant/deodorizer.
  • Installs containment systems as needed using zip-walls and other like products to prevent contamination of a worksite.
  • Cleans-up worksites.
  • Assists in ensuring that the attic trailer and equipment is stocked and up kept.
  • Assists the Attic Supervisor in a comprehensive final walk through of customer’s home upon completion of work.
  • Maintains quality results by adhering to company standards.
  • Maintains safe work habits by following company standards.
  • Uses proper company supplied safety equipment at all times (respirators, Tyvek suits and such)
Customer Service:
  • Works effectively with fellow employees and managers to ensure the customer’s expectations are met and exceeded.
  • Provides superior wildlife damage services to our clients

Required:
  • Physical stamina to work in harsh conditions as the nature of the job demands.,
  • Strong ability to work well as a team member with other employees.
  • Comfort and ability to lift and work from ladders, roofs, attics, and crawl spaces.
  • Ability to handle wildlife and their waste as needed.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain licenses/certificates as required by federal, state and local regulation
  • Must pass pre-employment background screen and drug test
  • Communicate with customers to ensure satisfaction and discuss services provided.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills as you interact with customers, office staff, and management.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities as they are presented by the company

PREFERRED:
  • Relevant training and/or experience in residential attic insulation industry.
  • A valid driver’s license and ability to pass motor vehicle record search is a plus
  • Basic construction knowledge and abilities
Education:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least 1 year of residential attic insulation experience; Willing to train the right candidate.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain licenses/certificates as required by federal, state and local regulation
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Working while exposed to environmental elements. Working from heights and ladders.  Bending, kneeling and crawling into tight spaces to perform services.  Requires standing for a long period of time. Working with fiberglass insulation products and around animals and their waste.
TRAVEL: 
Requires local travel (rarely may require some out of state travel with notice).
